浮かばれる

うかばれる【浮かばれる】

1 〔成仏する〕 rest in peace; attain eternal rest.

●浮かばれずにいる魂 a restless spirit [ghost].

2 〔世に出る〕 rise [get on, get ahead] in the world; gain due recognition.

●あんな事件を起こしては, 彼はもう一生浮かばれない. By causing that kind of incident [trouble], he has ruined his career for good [he'll never get ahead now].

・これでやっとあの男も浮かばれるだろう. This means that at long last he will get the recognition he deserves.
